Yoga - breath is the yoke, or harmony that modifies (guides) the body and mind. The classes are a simple sequence of physical postures, with a tempo and focus that leads the mind from the physical stretching of the body to awareness of the breath. The classes will be hatha yoga asanas - physical postures. When done with a relaxed, attentive attitude, the sequence of physical postures also trains the breath and the mind. Each class will be the same. You can start at any time.

We start with a simple one hour sequence of floor postures. I speak very little - you learn by doing, and asking your body to do what it can do. In my current classes, 79 year olds practice alongside 29 year olds, each according to their ability. These are basic postures - exactly the same postures are "advanced" when they are done with full attention to one's capacity. Advanced means just knowing your capacity: not to much, not too little, that "pain is vain."

Some of the students in the class have been contributing their attention and effort since 1978 when Narendra Rathore started leading the class. New people walk in off the street and these beginners are comfortable following the whole sequence. The continuation of this class honors the dedication of all of these people, and the love that they have all brought to this practice is tangible in every session.
